March Greetings & Salutations!
It is beginning to feel like spring in Portland: Cherry trees bloom throughout Northwest neighborhoods, irises and crocuses flower in purples and white, and residents stroll the streets without jackets. It is an exhilarating time of year as winter-dormant energies awaken and stir.
February was a busy month for me, maintaining a full-time wellness practice and attending two BodyTalk System trainings. Instructor Ange Trenga and Dr. John Veltheim co-taught Animal BodyTalk at the Oregon Humane Society. It was a rewarding experience to volunteer at the shelter, applying course material to help animals in transition and in crisis. On the last day of the training seminar students treated 300 cats and dogs, often with immediately visible improvements in the animals' demeanor, posture, energy and appetite. For instance, canine Ulysses was transported to the shelter from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Ulysses had not stood up since his arrival in Portland. As soon as his first BodyTalk session was complete, Ulysses stood, walked around his kennel and wagged his tail. Many similarly heart-warming responses to BodyTalk balancing were witnessed that day.
After years of treating animals privately with BodyTalk, as well as studying the discipline with Dr. Sandy Davis and Ange Trenga, I am offering Animal BodyTalk professionally. Animal BodyTalk sessions serve as a useful complement to traditional veterinary care and help to enhance the bond between you and your pet. Please contact me if you would like to schedule an appointment.
I also attended an eye-opening BodyTalk Orthopedic Evaluation seminar taught by Dr. Kerry D'Ambrogio. Dr. D'Ambrogio educated students on how to conduct a thorough, full-body orthopedic evaluation to assess range of motion of the upper and lower extremities as well as the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine; how to perform tension tests to determine bone and joint stiffness, muscle spasm, fascial tension and swelling; and how to observe the ways in which environmental, stress, and emotional factors affect the physical body. As BodyTalk makes changes within the body by restoring communication, there are also changes in the external body, which can be measured. Expanding my palpation and orthopedic evaluation skills has helped me to objectively see, feel and measure the corrections clients experience after a BodyTalk session.
At Synergy Wellness I have been successfully balancing a wide spectrum of conditions including:
